How to connect your Chromebook to your WiFi network (English)*

Manage Wi-Fi networks

If you have multiple networks saved on your Chromebook, you can choose which wireless network the device should connect to by default.

By default, your Chromebook tries to connect to networks in this order of preference:

  • Wired local area network
  • Secure wireless network
  • Unsecure wireless network
  • Mobile data network (only used if your Chromebook has a data plan)

Automatically connect to a network

If you have multiple Wi-Fi networks in your area, you can choose to automatically connect to a specific one:

  1. Make sure you're connected to a Wi-Fi network.
  2. At the bottom right, select the time.
  3. Select Settings .
  4. In the "Network" section, select Wi-Fi, then select your network.
  5. Turn on Automatically connect to this network.

Prefer a network

If you have multiple Wi-Fi networks in your area, you can tell your Chromebook to prefer one network over another:

  1. Make sure you're connected to a Wi-Fi network.
  2. At the bottom right, select the time.
  3. Select Settings .
  4. In the "Network" section, select Wi-Fi, select your network.
  5. Turn on Prefer this network.

Forget a network

Your Chromebook saves network information when you connect to a network. To delete that info:

  1. Sign in to the Chromebook with the account designated as the owner.
  2. At the bottom right, select the time.
  3. Select Settings .
  4. In the "Network" section, select Wi-Fi.
  5. Select Known networks.
  6. Find the network you want to forget, then select More   Forget.
