FGSD Account Password Reset*
Description:
Please follow these steps to reset your FGSD account password. If you have any questions during this process please reach out to the technology department (helpdesk@fgsd.k12.or.us or 503-359-2415 or x4529).IMPORTANT: You MUST follow all the steps, including step 6, which is the step to synchronize your new network password with your local computer account password. This is especially important for MacBook users. Not following all the steps could lead to login issues.
Steps:
- Go to the FGSD Password Reset site (https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com/)
- Enter your full district email address in to the field titled "Email or Username:" Then type in the CAPTCHA characters in the blank field below the "CAPTCHA window". Press the blue button at the bottom titled Next to proceed.
**This is an example image - your verification step/option may be different**
- You'll now be prompted to authenticate using your two step verification method. If the phone number does not work please click on the option for "Enter a code from my authenticator app"
**This is an example image - your verification step/option may be different** - Once the two factor authentication is complete, use the two fields provided to enter in a new password and confirm it. Press the blue Finish button to proceed. (Password requirements: at least 12 characters, one number, and one special character or capital letter. Cannot be a recent password or contain part of your name)
- Once the password has been accepted you will receive a screen stating "Your password has been reset"
- Please follow the directions below based on the district issued device you use (this does not apply to personal devices):
- Chromebook Users: The next time you log in to your computer you will need to use the new password that was just set in the instructions above.
- MacBook Users: Your MacBook password will still be set to your old password and will require you to change it manually so they will match. Please head over to the following instructions for more information on how to get the local account password changed: MacBook Password Reset
- Windows PC Users (ex. Dell Laptop or Desktop):
- In District: Restart your computer immediately. If you are currently on-site (i.e. in a district building) your computer needs to be connected to an ethernet cable for your local computer account to match your new network password.
- Out of District: Restart your computer immediately. If you are not currently on the district network (ie not in a district building) you will continue to use the old password to sign in to your computer. Once you get on site and connect to the district network, the passwords will sync. The next time you log in to the computer, you will use the new password you just set.
Additional Notes:
After your FGSD account password has been changed, you will be required to use the new password to access your FGSD Google account. Your browser and/or apps you use to access your FGSD Google account will prompt you to enter the new password, and in some cases require you to re-add the account to the app or browser.Contact:
