MacBook Photos backup
There are two ways to back up items stored in Apple's Photos app on the MacBook. You only need to do one.
Exporting pictures/videos from Photos app:
1. Open your Photos app.
2. Click View on the menu bar and select "Photos" (this assures you are viewing your entire library of photos).
3. Select all by holding down the command key and then press A. This will select all the photos.
4. Once photos are selected, select File in the top menu.
5. In the drop down menu hover over "Export" and select the first option that says Export [#] Files.
6. Click "Export" in the prompt that comes up.
7. Select the place you want to save the photos. If you want to save on the desktop, click "Desktop" on the left sidebar. You may want to create a folder to store these in. To do that, select "New Folder" down at the bottom AFTER you select Desktop, or wherever your preferred location is.
8. Click "Export," and the process of exporting will begin. A notice will appear on your screen when the export has successfully finished.
9. Back up exported files to Google Drive.
Backing up entire Photos Library:
1. Open Photos.
2. Click the Photos menu at the top.
3. Select Preferences.
4. With the General tab selected, look for Library Location and click the Show in Finder button.
5. Back that file up on Google Drive.
Note: This will be the longer process as it will back up all the Photos elements and not just your pictures.
