Dell Laptop Audio Settings*
The following settings are recommended for Dell laptops to help with microphone and speaker issues: Driver Update, Sound Communication setting, Speaker Audio Enhancement setting, and Microphone Audio Enhancement setting.
*** Note: Some settings may not appear as options due to differences with hardware and drivers.



- Use the Dell Command Update tool on the laptop to check for and install the most current drivers.
- Note: There was a recent big security bug Dell announced, so do update the BIOS as well if an update is available.
- Disable Windows from changing audio settings when it detects communication activity
- Open the Sound Control Panel from the Sound section of the Windows Control Panel
- Select the Communications tab
- Select "Do Nothing" in the list
- Click the Apply button
- Disable Audio Enhancements for the Speaker
- Open the Speaker Properties (Control Panel > Sound > Output Device Properties > Additional Device Properties)
- Select the Advanced tab
- Uncheck the "Enable Audio Enhancements" option
- Click the Apply button
- Disable Audio Enhancements for the Microphone
- Open the Microphone Array Properties (Control Panel > Sound > Input Device Properties > Additional Device Properties)
- Select the Advanced tab
- Uncheck the "Enable Audio Enhancements" option
- Click the Apply button
